Current opportunities

Community Advocate Network

We're looking for a group of people who are willing to share their own experiences of living with osteoporosis (or as a family member, friend, or carer of someone with the condition) to help promote our work. As part of this Community Advocate Network, you may be invited to take part in:

  • research projects
  • media and public affairs work
  • local initiatives

No particular skills and experience are needed to join the network, and you can choose which projects you would like to take part in - so being a member of the network involves no specific time commitment. If you decide to take part in any activities, you will be given support and any relevant training.

To register your interest, please complete an expression of interest form and return it to volunteerengagement@theros.org.uk

Online Champions

We're looking for friendly, supportive people with experience in using IT to help fellow volunteers run online meetings for people in their community living with osteoporosis. Our volunteers are skilled at running face to face meetings, but some need a little help and support to manage their meetings online.

We don’t expect you to be an expert, but IT confidence and a willingness to learn and share knowledge are key, as are good communication skills.

Get in touch with the team if you would like to have a chat to find out more by emailing volunteerengagement@theros.org.uk or phoning 01761 473112. Or, if you think this is the role for you, please complete an application form and return it to volunteerengagement@theros.org.uk

Do you have a bit of time to spare to help organise events locally?

If you're interested in getting involved with an existing support group, starting one up locally, or just helping out on an ad hoc basis – online or face-to-face, just get in touch with the Volunteer & Public Engagement (VPE) Team to find out more: volunteerengagement@theros.org.uk

What our volunteers say:

It feels so rewarding to help other people and I get a huge amount of satisfaction from volunteering with the ROS. I've also learned a lot more about osteoporosis, which has boosted my confidence and helped me to better manage my own bone health.
- Gill, ROS volunteer

"It's given me something new and interesting to get my teeth into, a sense of pride, and of being valued."
- Jeannie, ROS volunteer
