Take part in your next challenge by running, walking or cycling for the National Osteoporosis Society
Your support will help us ensure that everyone receives the treatment they deserve.
Better treatment – your gift will help us to educate more GPs and practice nurses in the full range of treatments available, including those involving simple lifestyle changes rather than medication. This will help to put an end to ‘one-size fits all’ prescriptions.
Better GP training – We will work to ensure that GPs receive ongoing refresher training and are aware of new developments and best practice. In the longer term, we also want to work with the Royal College of GPs to develop specialist training modules in osteoporosis.
Help give better awareness and understanding. We are hoping to launch an awareness campaign for GPs and practice nurses so that they know about the National Osteoporosis Society and how to access all the professional advice and information we provide. With your support this campaign will encourage more GPs to immediately refer patients to us for the expert information and support they need.
Our action plan not only has the power to improve the lives of members and supporters like you, but we know it will be welcomed by hard-pressed GPs who have acknowledged they need more support. In a survey we conducted recently, the overwhelming feedback we received from health professionals was that they would like more training and education in osteoporosis so they can provide better quality care for their patients.
The National Osteoporosis Society is uniquely placed to help – but we really need your support today so we can share our insight and expertise with more GP practices and make life better for everyone with osteoporosis.
