Coventry & District Support Group
The Coventry and District Osteoporosis Support Group was formed in September 2004. We hold regular public information meetings but do not have membership to the group itself, as we encourage our audiences to join the national organisation.
We hold 5 public meetings a year at St John the Baptist Church Hall, Spon Street, Coventry City Centre, CV1 3AY. Many buses, including Park and Ride North and South, stop within yards of the entrance. All meetings are from 2 to 3.30 pm on Thursday afternoons. Admission is £3 and includes refreshments. All welcome.
Our aims are:
- to offer support to people with osteoporosis, their families and carers;
- promote local exercise classes to improve bone health;
- raise awareness of osteoporosis and bone health among people of all ages by giving talks to local organisations and giving assemblies and in-class support in local primary schools;
- fundraise for research into osteoporosis, to increase understanding of the disease and improve treatment options and patient care;
- work with health care professionals to facilitate greater understanding of the needs of people with osteoporosis;
- lobby for local improvements in osteoporosis diagnosis and treatment.
