Our Strategy
The National Osteoporosis Society is the only UK-wide Charity dedicated to improving the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of osteoporosis. Our vision is a future without fragility fractures. The research grants programme is one of the many ways in which the Charity works to advance this vision.
The Research Strategy sets out the broad focus for the Charity’s research from 2011 to December 2014. It explores and builds upon the objectives set out in the strategic plan.
In addition to the research grant round, the Charity will continue to develop the awards schemes it makes available to professional members. This will include the launch of a bursary scheme which will aim to support young scientists and clinicians in osteoporosis research. This will ensure that the highest quality of research continues to be performed in the UK.
This strategy is supported by a separate research priorities document. It contains priorities for the Charity’s research grant round, in addition to wider priorities for influencing other funders. Regular review of the research priorities will ensure that the priorities the Charity is working to are relevant and current.
