Hi All
Grateful for any views on Terapardite. Anyone on it? It has been indicated to me as a drug to try.

| A month ago I finished a 18th month course of daily injection Forsteo. Apart from some nausea from time to time like morning sickness I tolerated the drug well. Unfortunately my bone density did not improve. The only good thing was it did not get worse. I have since been told that my Vit D level is very low and am now taking 10,000 units a day for two months. At the start of the drug Vit D was o k. Don't know if they are connected. Everyone says Forsteo is the best drug for severe o p so if you are offered it I would try it. Some health trusts won't prescribe it as it is expensive. Maximum course is for 2 years and then they will have to think of something else to give you. Best of luck!

Many thanks Trish, useful to read your outcome. My vit D is also very low (20.1)...my doc has prescribed D-Rise (60,000 IUs, once a week sachets for 8 weeks, then one monthly for four months) and also Triple A calforte 300mgs twice a day for six months. (I am currently in India, thus the brand names)...I have researched this Terapardite...because my OP spine score is -3.1, hips -2.1 and -1.9...so not good scores. I will have to be brave and try it but first, when I get back to the UK, persuade the GP too! Odd that your Vit D level went down after having been ok...maybe the drug is drawing on the D vit to do the job? Who knows...I will certainly keep an eye on my vit levels as to how they go.
Again, thanks for your message.

I'm curious Libby - I can't find any links to any medications called Terapardite, nor D-Rise nor Triple A calforte ! Is that what you get prescribed in India ?
Osteoporosis - Strontium Ranelate, Dekristol vitamin D3 20,000 IU/week, weight lifting, walking and vibration platform exercise, alkaline loaded diet, vitamin K2 MK-7 200mcg/day. Diabetes - Repaglinide, low carb diet and exercise. Congenital heart defect - Omacor and CoQ10. Small airways disease/asthma - Qvar 100. Probable coeliac.

| Hi Libby, I have been on Forsteo (Teriparatide) for 18mths now, supposed to be doing the long haul of 2yrs, but I will see if my T score has improved at my next scan which is on the 13th August. I did improve from -4.1 to -3.4 in the first 6mths of treatment so fingers crossed I will have continued to improve. I did have terrible nausea for the first 3mths and was very near to giving up, I ended up contacting the pharmacist from the Home Care Team who supply you with the injection and he was very helpful and suggested I inject at night, which I did, and I never looked back from that point. I would give it a go as it is supposed to be the best treatment once you have started to fracture or if you have advanced OP and they don't offer it lightly as is is very expensive. Good Luck Lx
