| What supplements, vitamins and minerals, and in what quantity should be taken to help with Oesteoporosis? Research is very confusing, it seems higher doses of calcium, magnesium and Vit D are advised in America than here, and are there any that should not be taken together because I tend to take them all at the same time. Dear Sheila Thank you for your post. This is something we often get asked and it can be a bit confusing. Also prescribing practices and treatment regimes will tend to vary in different countries. For people diagnosed with osteoporosis and on a treatment you may need to boost your calcium intake to around 1200mg a day and a calcium and vitamin D supplement with your osteoporosis treatment may be prescribed. For more detailed Information on calcium and vitamin D recommendations as well as information on other nutrients that play a role in bone health see the charity’s Healthy bones-facts about food leaflet.Best Wishes
