I had a dexa scan last year and apparently have the start of osteoporosis. At the moment its not very painful but I also fractured my shoulder 4 months ago. I have been taking Alendronic acid once a week and have noticed minor pain in the other shoulder and lower back. I don't know how quickly severe pain starts with osteoporosis but one of the side effects of taking Alendronic acid is pain in the joints so now I am confused. I will continue to take them for a while to see if it is the tablets that are making other joints ache but I have heard of a 6 monthly injection that I can have instead of tablets.
I can't remember the name of this medication but I think it has something to do with the immune system. If you have any information on this injectable medication and also the contra indications could you let me know as I may change to this and see how I get on.
Many thanks Rosey
