Dancehead - I'd say it's worth looking at a few books, there are recommendations on this site and you can get blurb from NOS too. Library? Weight bearing activity helps bones they say - can't go too far wrong with walking daily, up and down stairs is good too of course.
I agree with Sarah on the Alkaline /acid diet ( eating 80% alkaline) lots of books and info on the net re which foods. Nutrition is more complicated than most of us probably realise, I think it's worth some research - good luck.
Rob - the survey included those of us with one vertebral fracture and what difference an Op - V- plasty or K- plasty might make to our lives re pain etc.....

Ah yes thanks I found it now pinned to the top of this part of the forum and completed it! Before that I did the Healthy Bones questionnaire on the NOS front page that resulted in a printout. (it was that I thought you meant and I also see there was one back into last year now closed that I think I did)

Sadly we are seeing a 'watering down' of our NHS. We here it in the news (though it gets denied by politicians) but for patients it is starting to bite. Things that would have been dealt with are now a matter of special funding applications to the local PCT who decide if to pay for certain things (or not). If not the option is private. I'm talking from recent experience about a minor surgical procedure. It seems we need to be seriously or potentially seriously ill before the NHS will pick up the pieces. Prevention isn't in it any longer. Short-sighted for the Nation's long term health. Maybe they don't want us living long lives unless we can afford to! Cynical? Probably.
