For all of us who are not taking presecription medication for OP a book is highly recommended on the US site on natural remedies. So I have ordered it an will see how it translates into UK 'speke'.
Hope it does, feel quite excited by this book.

Looks good ! I just had a 'look inside' the book on the Amazon.com website. Only problem is that as it's American the author surely won't be able to comment properly on Strontium Ranelate, she'll only be able to comment on Strontium Citrate....but you never know.......give us a review Sarah when you've read it !
Osteoporosis - Strontium Ranelate, Dekristol vitamin D3 20,000 IU/week, weight lifting, walking and vibration platform exercise, alkaline loaded diet, vitamin K2 MK-7 200mcg/day. Diabetes - Repaglinide, low carb diet and exercise. Congenital heart defect - Omacor and CoQ10. Small airways disease/asthma - Qvar 100. Probable coeliac.

| I would be really grateful to hear what you all think about this book when you have read it. I might then send for it myself. It is so beneficial to be on a forum when all share their knowledge - thank you.

The book arrived this morning and just spent a few hours 'skimming' through it. Wow! This book is good. But I am glad I read the Marilyn Glenville book first. One first glance the two books (Glenville and Pizzorno) are complementary.
First impressions:
The strength of Dr Glenville's book is the 'why/how your body works as it does' and the nutritional detail.
The strenght of Lara Pizzorno's book is the exercise and supplement detail. Also the 60+ pages of reference.
The styles are completely different, with the Glenville book being measured and fairly 'academic' in places, with Pizzorno's style being more in 'no holds barred' and easy reading. Pizzorno slates the use of bisphosonates, not one good word.
Looking forward to a 'deeper' read.

My copy arrived yesterday and I had a deep read of almost all of it yesterday. Leaving my comment about it until today for reasons which become apparent.
I liked all the info on nutritional supplements, very good. Info on medications was good too...on the whole......
There is one major error in the book which is most likely a typographical error which is extremely misleading and would worry a great many people taking strontium ranelate: on page 188 of the book it reads that the risk of venous thromboembilism is 7% when taking Strontium Ranelate - it is in fact only 0.7% !
I have managed to contact the publishers and author, Lara Pizzorno, about this error and I received an email from Lara herself this morning in which she says:
Thanks so much for catching this error! In my notes for Your Bones, I have the correct statistic, but either I made a typographical error when working on the draft or I missed that this error – a change from .7% to 7% -- had occurred in the final version. Either way, my error, and I am so glad you caught it!
I am hoping a second edition will soon be in the works and will ensure this statistic is corrected.
Stay well,
Lara
