I have started up on Alendronic Acid for a second time having only been on them twice each time for 2 months or less, (probably not long enough, however I have had absolutely no side effects yet, but, if its not gonna do any good in the long run as has been suggested by some forum users I am reluctant to take it.

I bought some Strontium Citrate online which is a natural substance and I only ever took two but they gave me a dicky stomach.

I don't think the W H O know what the long term indications of taking Strontiums are. I thought to buy some Renelate but having wasted money on the Citrate version I wonder if it will be more money wasted.

Don't know what to do now. Any suggestions,

Thanks Rosey

Hi Rosey,

Strontium Ranelate is only available on prescription from your doctor so if you were able to get it and it caused you side effects you would only waste the £7.40 prescription charge ! Of course if you're over 60 there's no charge !

Re your dicky stomach taking strontium citrate - a "natural" substance like strontium citrate is no guarantee that a person won't get side effects. I got serious side effects from calcium supplements, both prescription and health food shop "natural" calcium supplements. I was told by my doctor to stop taking calcium supplements. Something "natural" is no guarantee of anything - what about people who have severe allergies to things like peanuts ? A simple peanut can kill such a person !

Osteoporosis - Strontium Ranelate, Dekristol vitamin D3 20,000 IU/week, weight lifting, walking and vibration platform exercise, alkaline loaded diet, vitamin K2 MK-7 100mcg/d, K2 MK-4 5mg/d. Diabetes - Repaglinide, low carb diet and exercise. Congenital heart defect - Omacor and CoQ10

you can buy this online if you wanted ( perfectly legal too if its for your own use!) but as you can see from the link below, its not exactly cheap! Id try & get your doc to prescribe it as I have . Luckily for me I live in Scotland where prescriptions are free of charge.
