My doctor said I had osteoporosis last yr and suggested I take fosamax. I said "NO WAY"

I have read on all the dangerous side effects and I really enjoy having a jawbone in my skull so no drugs!

I have heard from a woman about a web site that the woman who runs it had osteoporosis but she cured herself without drugs. Natural foods that strengthen bones and of course weight bearing exercise.

On the site the nurse who had the osteoporosis suggest we also get a weight walking vest as that is the very best way to strengthen bones. She said to strengthen bone you must MUST do weight bearing exercise so she said the vest is the best way to do that. Her vest is made by women for women its by NYKNYC  Long story short I am feeling like superwoman -a  year later! I cleaned up my diet removed foods and drinks that steal calcium from bones and of course I eat a bone healthy diet with one hour of weight walking in my cute vest each day. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS METHOD TO ALL WOMEN.

Forget the drugs they will cause damage that you will wish you had never used those drugs once you take fosamax boniva etc etc you do damage to your bones - women have lost their jaw bones and I know one lady who had to get extensive plastic surgery to re build her jaw after she took fosamax so go natural way to strengthen bones . see reverseosteopenia .com and see vest at nyknyc.com

Well said Linz - I hope the Moderators step in & deal this this, as the same person made a previous posting about Prednisolone which I consider to be highly dangerous.

Just look at the only other post of this person and it tells you all. There are always some people who want to scare others into purchasing their products. Not what one needs when suffering already enough.

That post was written last October and I reckon, by the way it sounds and the wording, that it is by an American (eg "clean up diet", "cute vest"). Not that I've anything against Americans, but they don't have access to the same osteoporosis medications as we do in the UK and Europe like Strontium Ranelate. I agree that she is over the top in what she says and the moderator should have jumped on it - there are regular forum members here who have been jumped on by the moderator for lesser offences.

Oh, another dead giveaway that the poster is American is the use of the word "drug" instead of medication. In England we take medication for our conditions and we take drugs if we are taking something illegal

Osteoporosis - Strontium Ranelate, Dekristol vitamin D3 20,000 IU/week, weight lifting, walking and vibration platform exercise, alkaline loaded diet, vitamin K2 MK-7 200mcg/day. Diabetes - Repaglinide, low carb diet and exercise. Congenital heart defect - Omacor and CoQ10. Small airways disease/asthma - Qvar 100. Probable coeliac.

Hi Jilly,

Where do you get that weight bearing is not right for osteoporosis ? Both weight bearing and weight resistance exercise is very good to help reverse osteoporosis. Walking is weight bearing, and weight lifting is both weight bearing and weight resistance exercise. I do a specific weight lifting program which was designed for "fragile" women with osteoporosis which showed that their bone density improved. I suspect that weight resistance isn't any different in practical terms to weight bearing, so weight lifting is resistance exercise in which you bear weight.

This study sheds some light on the use of the words: Exercise effects on bone mass in postmenopausal women are site-specific and load-dependent

Conclusion of study: Postmenopausal bone mass can be significantly increased by a strength regimen that uses high-load low repetitions but not by an endurance regimen that uses low-load high repetitions.

The original post should be removed because it is simply advertising ! There's nothing wrong with weighted vests as far as I know, but to advertise a specific one on this forum and to say that all medications are bad and that we shouldn't take them is against the forum's guidelines.
