I am about to have a breast reconstruction and I should take Alendronic Acid the day before. Is it safe to do this?

| Dear JackyA, Thank you for your post asking if it is safe to take alendronic acid the day before an operation. There is no recommendation to stop alendronic acid (alendronate, Fosamax) before an operation. However, if you feel that just on this occasion it would be more convenient to miss a dose of alendronic acid this is usually not a problem, although it is important not to regularly miss doses as this may have an impact on the effectiveness of the drug treatment.
