Not sure about the side effects of S citrate, but it is bought on the internet. If you go to National Osteoporosis Foundation and sign up (it's free) you will get lots of info on SC- as the NOF ASPIRE site is in the US and S Ranelate is not available there so if Strontium is taken it has to be S Citrate.

Yes, but please beware of fakes and make sure that you have all the necessary information to take prescription drugs without medical cover. Personally, I wouldn't risk it, but I may be overcautious,

I have been told by a nutritionist that Strontium citrate is far better than Strontium Ranelate as S Citrate is water soluble and does not contain aspartame.

Strontium Citrate has not been approved by the Food and Drug Agency for the US of for use in the UK. I suspect this may have more to do with the fact that S Citrate is not being pedalled by a big pharma company than because it's no good!

I'd buy medication from a reputable supplier on the internet.

(I was not prescribed Dekristol high dose Vit D - so bought Vit D off the internet and now my vit D has gone from 14-7 to 99nmol in two months, so I am cutting down to a maintenance dose)

Hello Sarah, really pleased re your vit D levels.  I know you were having difficulties getting vit D from the hospital or GP - who did your recent vit d level check?  Sheila

I wouldn't risk it either. I've read that strontium can have good or bad effects on bone, depending on various factors like the intake level, the person's renal function, and other things. In some circumstances strontium can apparently lead to lower bone density. The benefit of taking the prescription drug is that at least the safety studies have been done. I don't want to sound as if I'm defending Big Pharma, but it's just that my personal opinion is to keep on the safe side.
