Thank you Sarah for sharing your experience. Ihave stopped taking Alendronic acid. I take vit.D 1000 mgs a day, I don't know what that converts to in international units. I have an appt. To start physic within a week so I'll give that a go. I am still supple as far as bending and stretching goes but certain movements cause acute pain suggesting trapped nerve, however after walking for about five minutes It becomes an effort. I was walking 4 times a week for just over an hour up to 3 months ago when this started with the trapped nerve acute pain . After 2 weeks the pain has changed to mostly multiple joint pains that I imagine is more like arthritic pain than the acute ones. I'm still hoping that this is a temporary thing. Will have to wait and see. Thanks again and take care.

The sudden change from being mobile to the pain would really worry me. I understood the OP was a gradual deterioration, and yours sounds so different.

Perhaps someone on here may know if the pain could be connected to your medication?

When you 'bend' - do yo bend from your knees or your waist? I understood that if you have OP you need to avoid bending from the waist.

Take care
Sarah

You are nto a guinea pig! Alendronate is the NHS 'cheap' option. But if I had toothach after one tablet - I would never take it again knowing what I do about this drug.

I have had bad reactions to four drugs also.  At the moment I am recovering from the Strontium Ranelate that has caused a sore mouth and abdominal pain.  How long does it take to get this out of the system, things improved when I first stopped taking it but have remained uncomfortable for a week now.  Was SR one of the drugs you tried and how did you get on with it?
