Sounds like you have everything sorted. You might like to try AlgeaCal as it is plant based and so you may be more tolerant of it.

prescribed strontium medication.
can you let me know if you had any side effect from the natural strontium you are taking?

Carmel,

I haven't had any side effects from taking the natural strontium.

I take it every day between meals.

It is a good idea to take it at a different time to taking calcium as it fights for absorption with calcium.

I didn't ask for any adjustment of my results through taking strontium as I wasn't aware that there was any difference.

I certainly feel my back is much stronger - previously I couldn't even lean over the sink to shave without my back aching - I can now lift quite heavy weights without a reaction later.

I hope it works as well for you if you try it.

All the best, John

Hello John
Inspirational to read of your increases with supplements and exercise only. How do you purchase your Algaecal and Strontium? I'm currently in Australia and my attempts to purchase vitamin K2 from the USA and UK have failed (I can't buy any vitamin K over the counter here in Australia).
Thanks

Froglet, here is the web site for AlgaeCal Plus and Strontium Boost. They are shipped from the U.S. The AlgaeCal Plus does have vitamin K2 (as MK7 it says on the packaging) in it already.

My mother or myself have never had a follow-up on our one and only dexiscan - mine was in 1996 - my mother is on stronium ranaelate and is interested in using more about algaecal. But as i said before how do we know the medication is working if we dont have follow-ups?

Lynda - I agree - I think the only way to find out if your regime is working (in a scientifically rigorous way) is to get another scan. Have you asked your GP to arrange this for you?

Hello John

I have recently ordered AlgaeCal calcium supplement and the Strontium Boost supplement which I understand are natural substances. I have had difficulties with bisphosphonates for the past two years plus trying many different calcium tablets. Your information is very positive so thank you for this. My osteoporosis is quite substantive in my spine and hips ( my Consultants words) and he really wants me to have an  annual infusion. However, I am due for a scan in August so together with my Juvent machine and these supplements from Canada I am hoping against hope that there may be some improvement at my next scan.

Hi Barbara,

If you're taking Strontium Boost remember to tell the person who interprets your next DEXA scan and check that they have made the appropriate adjustments to the results that will need to be made. I'm on Strontium Ranelate and I informed the DEXA staff in writing when I had my follow up scan that I was on strontium as the NOS helpline nurses had told me that all radiologists know that adjustments should be made. Imagine my horror when I looked at the scans and report and saw that the radiologist had done no such thing ! I had to telephone the x-ray department and talk to the doctor on the phone who then contacted Servier about the adjustments to be made and redid my report. The adjustments will be similar with Strontium Boost as it is the strontium part of the formula that causes the bones to look denser than they really are as strontium is a heavier element radiologically than calcium.....I'm sure the manufacturers of Strontium Boost will tell you the exact adjustments needed.

I also cannot tolerate calcium supplements, but I take great care of my diet, make it alkaline too, take vitamin D3 2000 IU per day, Strontium Ranelate, plus I do weight lifting. walking and Power Plate vibration platform....they all help I'm sure !

all the best,
Anne
