I saw a specialist last week and he says that surgery is too drastic and is now recommending physio..........I so want to be free of pain! Thanks for your response. Bernadette.

Hi

Hope you are feeling better soon.!

How did you come to know that you had fractured your vertebrae? Did you feel them "go" (if that makes sense?) or was it that you had long term back ache? and when you fractured them did you do any thing to cause it or did they spontaneously fracture?

Sorry for the questions...having just been told I have OP in my spine I am really worried that mine are going to start to fracture...I do lots of lifting at work, bending over etc and I am wondering if I need to re evalute what I am doing.

Sarah

Hi again Bernadette,

What part of the country do you live? I live in North Wales and have you been offered vertebroplasty or kyphoplasty?   but am undecided as to whether to go for the surgery or not.,

Are you having to take pain killers every day?  Being in pain for 10 months is awful.  Are you able to go for walks?  I don't do any exercise as I am worried about more fractures.

If you would like to E mail me direct you can do so on figan.7@talktalk.net

Cheers

Hi Sarah,
I did feel a severe pain in my back.............I was on a mini trampoline (supposedly the best thing out for bone strengthening......unless you have Os)............3 months later an x ray showed 2 fractures of the vertabrae! I take paracetamol for the pain.............I don't like taking tablets but a London specialist assured me they are safe. I have just seen a 3rd specialist............who is advising physio for easing the pain. I go walking everyday 'cos I know to keep the rest of my bones healthy I MUST! It all seems a bit of a catch 22 situation to me. I wouldn't know how to advise you other than to say don't do things which jar the spine. All the best, Bernadette.

Hi Ann, I live in East Anglia. I do walk everyday..............the most important thing for healthy bones is to keep exercising (so I have been told). I am now back to doing swimming and pilates weekly. Wishing you well, Bernadette.
