| Hi another new member here, not quite sure what I am doing. Could any other members please tell me if they know of any publications in the UK that help with Diet,Vitamins and Exercise? All I can find are books in the USA. I have been prescribed Alendronic Acid but having tried it because of my GRD it makes me very ill. Regards Katie M

Marilyn Glenville's book 'Osteoporosis, the Silent Epidemic' is very good. She gives a description of all the regular medications with reservations and pros and cons, and then has a lot of her book dedicated to discussion of diet, alkaline forming diet, and exercise etc.
Osteoporosis - Strontium Ranelate, Dekristol vitamin D3 20,000 IU/week, weight lifting, walking and vibration platform exercise, alkaline loaded diet, vitamin K2 MK-7 100mcg/d, K2 MK-4 5mg/d. Diabetes - Repaglinide, low carb diet and exercise. Congenital heart defect - Omacor and CoQ10

| Hello Katie, I am also interested in finding natural help for osteoporosis. Taking strontium ranelate as I felt this was a better option. Still not sure though. Also instead of prescription calcium I take a bone supplement, Viridian or Bio care do them.

| Hello Katie & all, by GORD I think you mean acid reflux? I have the same & apparently biophosphonates can be an irritant to that condition. I panicked I must admit when I read peoples' reports about side effects, but then although unfortunatley it seems some people have suffered bad effects, there is the good side of what these drugs do. With acid reflux the Osteo drug Bon Viva (Ibandronic Acid) is best according to my doc. as you only have to take one tab once a month, therefore has less side effect on the reflux condition. I also would prefer to use natural methods, but how effective would that be? Apparently the way that Strontium Ranelate works seems to be at the top of the tree of biophsphonates. However, my chest/digestive area feels bad lately but its difficult to know if the Biophs. are the cause. Yes this book by Dr. Marilyn Glenville PhD - "Osteoporosis - how to prevent, treat and reverse it (the silent epidemic) is brilliant. She is also a leading nutritionist & the book contains eye-opening information and natural methods to help OP including recipes. Good luck
