Saw some shoes in London yeterday, from a shop that also sold the MBT footware. These were an american make, cost about £80 however, extremely good for the posture, made me really stand up straight. Has anyone else worn this type of footware, and received any benifit, or does it not matter what you wear on your feet? Jill

Hi there,I bought some MBT trainers and sandals a few years ago now. I have really worn them and find them brilliant. They tone the legs and buttocks while walking..but your legs don't ache like "ordinary" shoes would if going for a long walk!
Enjoy....and smile...

thanks for reply, decided not to do sensible, already have 3 pairs of boring sensible sandals, so may go for pumps instead, not so good, but hey, do worry, and I am smiling.... went into a local store recently to look at their Rieker sandals and they were all beige or brown, does sensible equate with these colours???? hi again, hope you "enjoy" the pumps as much as I have the trainers and sandals. The sandals were MBT's too!
Once you have got used to the different style of walking I have found them to be really comfortable to wear.It can be great fun initially too to walk backwards in them..but get used to walking forwards first. (You can get them repaired -at a specialist repairer of course-when that point is reached!).You soon learn where the balance point is-though you should really be informed of that when you make your purchase. Likewise, it is often suggested you don't wear them all day to start with-I think some folk can go a bit "light headed?".You can look up more info on the internet too..
Hope that helps again.

I haven't tried MTB's yet, but for the last 2 summer's I have been wearing FitFlops, which work in a similar way. I have found them to be the most comfortable footwear ever, & like MTB's they seem to improve my posture and exercise my legs.  Last summer, I even wore them whilst walking on part of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path - probably not a sensible thing to do, but I never stumbled or tripped. I can highly recommend FitFlops, and although they cost around £45 they are worth every penny & more.

I bought a pair of MBT's (at great expense) on the recommendation of my daughter who had had micro surgery on her spine at age 34! She was advised by a back clinic post operatively to walk, walk, walk and use her MBT's as often as poss. I love them: they have definitely improved my posture and have the added benefits of toning legs etc etc  While inUSA last year purchased some Sketchers 'Shapers' at $99 and supposed to do same thing. I dont think as good but all black and have proved invaluable outdoors in the bad weather this winter. Sister coming from USA this month and bringing me another pair for 'better wear' so I dont have to keep cleaning them. By the way -MBT's have to be fitted by a trained consultant (JOhn Lewis do them) and offer a re soling service. Have asked Dom to think about doing a feature on footware in the future as these are becoming very popular and 1 concern is the production of 'cheaper' versions that may do more harm than good.

HI Jenny and Jilly..and anyone else with news about MBT's/fitflops/shapers etc..
How are you getting on with them? Now that the weather is getting warmer, I am going to start using my MBT sandals..rather than the trainers.

Since the weather has been getting warmer I've lived in my Fit Flops - haven't worn anything else.  I have a new pair for outdoors, & I wear the older pair I got last year indoors.  I do notice a slight firming of my bum & to a lesser degree my legs, but the main reason I love them is the comfort.  They do help posture too, as they are most comfortable if you 'walk tall' as it were.

HI Karen,
I haven't researched..but can you get the fitflops more like a trainer..ie not open backed? For MBT's,you can get either trainer or shoe types or as sandals.
