Their exercises remind me of some of those in the book 'Exercises for Osteoporosis' by Dianne Daniels. I started out with those exercises when I was very first diagnosed with osteoporosis, nearly two and a half years ago, and they were good, especially good for at home. I then moved on to a gym and Slow Burn weight lifting :Wow:

all the best,
Anne
I have spent ages trying to find the slide show - please can you give me foolproof instructions on how to find it?
Thank you.

RE: A few books and websites I have found useful

Hi All - thanks for the links and tips. I've just started reading 'Osteoporosis, the silent epidemic' by Marilyn Glenville and already find it very interesting reading.

Just came across a site (below) which I haven't finished reading yet but may have some useful information that some may be interested in: :)

http://www.rd.com/osteoporosis/

Mmmmm eat more plumbs :P

Have a great day

RE: A few books and websites I have found useful

Thank you for letting Forum know of this book. I wondered if the supplements and foods she recommends are available in the UK, as it is an American book. I get her emails, but often find that I have never heard of things she refers to!

RE: A few books and websites I have found useful

I'm just reading an excellent book on osteoporosis which has tons of information about diet, supplements and lifestyle, it's 'The Bone Building Solution' by Sam Graci http://www.amazon.co.uk/Bone-building-Solution-Sam-Graci/dp/0470838914/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1260124292&sr=8-1 I'm very pleased with it, it's full of invaluable information.

Anne
RE: A few books and websites I have found useful

Hi Flick,

You ask if we are taking drugs as well as exercise or trying to do without - I personally take Strontium Ranelate (Protelos). I also do a weight lifting technique called SuperSlow which was devised specifically for osteoporotic women to help increase their bone density. I do this weight lifting twice a week, it's roughly 30 minutes only. As well as that I do gentle exercises on a Power Plate Vibration Platform three times a week, takes roughly 15 minutes. And I walk as much as I can. I also pay a lot of attention to my diet making sure that it has an alkaline load rather than acid one, and I take vitamin D3, 2000 IU per day and get my serum levels of D regularly tested. It's an all out multipronged attack on my osteoporosis :)

Re trampolining: I understand that trampolining could be harmful for osteoporosis as the impact could lead to compression fractures of the spine...something you might have to ask a physiotherapist who has expertise in osteoporosis.

Anne

RE: A few books and websites I have found useful

Hey guys

Thanks for the info - I shall get reading. I have been using the principles from the Save Our Bones book by Vivien Goldschmidt and trying to exercise as well.
