This is only the first month but I am happy with the change because I always had a fear of taking the Bisphosphonates long term. I also felt a bit dizzy and generally unwell on day of taking them, although that was not every time. I do get a bit dizzy anyway due to low blood pressure so could well be that. It is good that there are things out there to help this condition. with best wishes, SheilB

RE: Definition of "Monthly" Bonviva tablets

hi there,
Why have you stopped taking the bonvia-was it becasue it was making you feel sick? I tend to have stomach ache on that day..but it was less this time.(So fingers crossed) Equally, I was going dizzy at times-but this has stopped now too. The dizziness may or may not be connected with the Bonviva-though never had it before! I initially thought of taking it the 1st of each month...but thought again that by taking every 4 weeks, I would be maximizing the amount my body received over the year. Also, it means as you suggest, I cna take it on a day that is "quieter" for me.
Thanks for you advice.

RE: Definition of "Monthly" Bonviva tablets

I have just come off the monthly Bonviva tablets but took mine every fourth Friday, found it best to take it on a morning that I had little to do because it made me feel sick. You need to take with plenty of water, on an empty stomache, and stay upright for an hour before eating or drinking. Hope all goes well for you.

Definition of "Monthly" Bonviva tablets

Recently been prescribed Bonviva tablets to take monthly. (Also, vitamin D/calcium to take daily.)
When do people generally take them? ie every 4th week-say on a monday?
or
on say the 1st day of each month?
By taking it the latter, over the year, you will obviously take a greater dosage. The pharmacist seemed to suggest either was ok. The important thing being when you think you are more likley to remember it. Whereas, I prefer to take it the way that will provide most long term benefit.
Thanks ...in anticipation.
