My concerns are about the side effects. I have osteoarthritis which causes joint pain, particularly in my knees, hips and ankles, and I certainly don't want to make this any worse.I struggle with Adcal - I have bad reflux and this causes indigestion as well. Do I need to continue with the Adcal if I have the Denusomab? I read on an American website that the side effects can also make reflux much worse. I would be grateful for any user's experiences of this drug, so that I can make an informed choice about this.

RE: Denosumab(Prolia)

Hi Davyroy, I also have just been perscibed Denosumab. I'm to have the injection at the end of this month. I will be interested to see how I fair on this drug. I was taking Alendronic Acid for the last twelve months, but it made me quite ill. I'm told Denosumab can cause symptoms such as cellulitis and a condition called osteonecrosis of the jaw. I do find that most alternative drugs all appear to have side effects, and the trick is to find one that suits your body. Hope all goes well for you. regards, Telann.

RE: Denosumab(Prolia)

I have just had my third denosumab prolia injection without any side effects, the first one i had groin pain for a few months after it but luckily havent suffered any since. I do get indigestion but I think that is more to do with the adcal calcium vit D. I too suffered horrible side effects with the other drugs (aldronic acid etc) so this injection twice a year fits into my lifestyle very well and I will continue as long as I don't suffer any serious side effects. Reading the list of these in the packet is scarey but I think they have to cover everything, I needed something and every drug causes some form or other I'm sure and at the moment denosumab is suiting me. I will be interested in my bone density scan in 2014 though to see what improvements there hopefully is.

RE: Denosumab(Prolia)

How about having a look at the patient information sheet that comes with this drug and can be found on line.

Denosumab(Prolia)

I have Osteoporosis with a t score of -3.7.
